What Is Christmas?        Week of 12/23/19

A silhouette of Joseph and Mary around baby Jesus in a manger.

It is written in the Holy Bible:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. John 1:1, 2, 5

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall He come forth unto Me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. Micah 5:2

Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel (which being interpreted is, God with us). Isaiah 7:14; Mt 1:23

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. John 1:14, 4

A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. Luke 2:32

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 …and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins. Matthew 1:21

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of His father David: And He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of His kingdom there shall be no end. Luke 1:32-33

Then spake Jesus…, I am the light of the world: he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. John 9:5

And He opened his mouth, and taught them, saying…Ye are the light of the world…Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:2, 14, 16

I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on Me should not abide in darkness. John 12:46

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light. Ephesians 5:8

This is what Christmas is all about.

“Hark the herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn King.
Light and life to all He brings, Risen with healing in His wings.
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see, Hail the incarnate Deity.
Born to raise the sons of earth, Born to give them second birth.
Hark the herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn King.”

Jesus said, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God. John 3:3 Would you like to receive this second birth?
Humble yourself, and turn from your sins to God. Ask Him to forgive your sins, and put your trust in Jesus the Messiah.
Begin to read the Bible daily. As newborn babes desire the sincere milk of the Word that ye may grow thereby.
Be baptized, as the Bible teaches, fully wet, in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Obey the Gospel.
